NBA reaching out to the Hispanic community

If you've recently watched any professional basketball games, you may have noticed that during some games the name of the team appears on the jersey different than on other nights. The NBA has begun hosting " Latin Nights" to reach out the the Hispanic community. On Latin Nights the two teams, usually cities with larger latin communities, wear jerseys with the team name written in Spanish.

By reaching out to the Latin community the NBA is creating customer loyalty as well as widening its audience. Also, the jerseys written in spanish expand the teams merchandise.

It is my opinon that the NBA's attempt to reach out to the Hispanic community has been most succesful and should serve as a "how to" for  businesses and corporations looking to grow in the future.

Dominos Pizza

If you watch any television at all I can almost garuntee that you've seen Domino's new P.R. campaign. In an attempt to gain customer loyalty and public opinion, Dominos has created a customer survey located right on the box.
The survey will let Dominos know what customers think about their chicken. The reason I think this is a positive campaign is because of how it is presented. In the commercials you meet everyone in the company from the person who makes the chick all the way up to the C.E.O. and head of Public Relations. The commercials create the illusion that the C.E.O is talking to you directly and perhaphs makes you feel a part of the Dominos family.
In the past year Dominos has done a lot of postive things for their public image. Their strategy to gain customer loyatly was succesful and has helped the company increase sales.

Is "winning" what it used to be?

Unless you have been hidden under a rock for the past two weeks, you have probably heard something about Charlie Sheen. From a public relations perspective I couldn't help but ask myself, who is in charge of Charlies' public image? After digging around I found the asnwer to my question.....no one. Charlie Sheen's public relations manager resigned on March 2nd after Sheen was quoted saying " "I respect Stan, he was doing the best he could ... but ... I probably would have come up with something better." This comment was said after Mr. Rosenfeld told the media that Charlie was acting the way he was because of an alergic reaction. The reason I'm writing this post is to highlight what happens when a client and their p.r. specialist are not on the same page. While Charlie is in desperate need of a new public image, he is also in desperate need of someone who understands him and his situation and acts appropriatly.

American Red Cross audio PSA

This is our PSA for the American Red Cross. This audio PSA was originally intended to be a video, however Mike and I decided that it was more powerful as a podcast due to poor lighting and background. Mike and I created a new campaign for the American Red Cross in an attempt to increase blood donations. With the campaign we created, donors would be able to track their donations to see the cause that they impacted. This effort to increase donations is called the " Be a Hero Campaign". The logo we used is property of the American Red Cross. Music is credited to Explosions in the Sky and the song is entitled " Your Hand in Mine".

Skrillex

In the wide world of electronic music there are hundreds of thousands of people fighting to be on top. Eectronic music is becoming more and more mainstream and therefore more people are creating it. Top electronic artists like "Bassnectar", "Pretty Lights", and "Deadmau5" can hardly keep up with the demand for their music. With so many people trying to get a peice of the pie you can't be just another face in the crowd.

Skrillex is an electronic musician that has only been around for 4 years and previosuly sang for a famous emo/hardcore hand called " From First to Last". His music style has changed just as much as his fanbase however he is only increasing in popularity. Rather he is Sonny Moore, the frontman for "From First to Last", or an electronic musician named Skirllex, he has no problem making music that people want to here. His image has went from emo punk kid to a rising D.J. in only a few years and has not let his confused image stop him in the slightest.
